So I've been playing around with how best to paint this battle standard bearer:

Hand painting is an option but I don't have the chops - or the patience - to do so. So, with the aforementioned decal paper, I may try this:

I'll try and do some test decals this weekend on some smaller models. This being the Standard of all standards, it has to be done well!

You should try freehand! One thing that helps, is to take a flat sheet of plasticard. Prime it, paint it, and use it as a practice sheet for the banner. That way you can practice or test out how the freehand will go before you actually put paint on a model.

I used this to help me practice for the Dark Elf shields.
