
Hand painting is an option but I don't have the chops - or the patience - to do so. So, with the aforementioned decal paper, I may try this:

I'll try and do some test decals this weekend on some smaller models. This being the Standard of all standards, it has to be done well!

You should try freehand! One thing that helps, is to take a flat sheet of plasticard. Prime it, paint it, and use it as a practice sheet for the banner. That way you can practice or test out how the freehand will go before you actually put paint on a model.
I used this to help me practice for the Dark Elf shields.
I may give it a try...thing is the pattern I want/have tried are so intricate. All High Elfy and what not...I'll give it a shot though...
Yes, you should give it a shot before taking the 'easy' route :)
